Golf & sports injuries

Play longer, swing freer, hurt less.

Chiropractic care from a doctor who spent years as a golf professional before he ever adjusted a spine.

The golfer’s chiropractor

He’s stood on your side of the ball.

Dr. Basco is a former assistant golf professional in Lake Tahoe and Palm Springs and a past Club Champion at Lake Tahoe Golf Course. He was part of the chiropractic team that treated Nike Tour players at the Nike Buffalo Open.

He understands the biomechanical demands the golf swing places on the body, and he provides individualized treatment for golfers who want to improve their game or who are playing through golf-related pain.

Why chiropractic fits golf

The swing is hard on a back.

Golf is low-impact, but a few hundred full-speed rotations a round add up. Chiropractic focuses on joint motion, the nervous system and musculoskeletal health, which is exactly where most golf injuries start.

Lower back

The swing loads the lumbar spine with every rotation, which can strain muscles and aggravate discs. Good technique and core strength protect it.

Golfer’s elbow

Repetitive swings irritate the tendons of the inner elbow. Rest and targeted strengthening help it settle.

Shoulders

Overuse and swing faults are common causes of shoulder pain. Good form and regular breaks go a long way.

Wrists

Impact at the ball can inflame wrist tendons. Grip technique and support reduce the risk.

Feet & ankles

Uneven lies and long walks on hilly courses strain feet and ankles. Supportive footwear helps.

Strains & sprains

Golfers who skip their warm-up are the ones who pull muscles. A brisk warm-up goes a long way.

Before your next round

The pre-round checklist.

  • Warm up before the first tee, not after the first bad swing
  • Build core strength to protect your lower back
  • Wear supportive shoes for uneven ground
  • Hydrate and wear sunscreen; heat sneaks up on you over 18 holes
  • Don’t play through pain. Get it looked at early.
