DRX9000 non-surgical spinal decompression

Finally, a treatment that may be your answer.

For herniated and bulging discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and even pain that lingers after back surgery.

The non-surgical alternative

Take the pressure off.

Bay Area Spine Care is proud to offer the DRX9000 spinal decompression system to patients across the Greater Oakland, Alameda and San Leandro area. It gives people with debilitating, disc-related low back pain a non-surgical option.

The DRX9000 reproduces how the spine responds to micro-gravity. It targets the specific lumbar segments that are the site and source of your pain and gradually unloads pressure on the discs and spinal nerves. As the space between the vertebrae opens, nutrients and blood flow return to the disc, encouraging it to heal from the inside out.

Each session is so relaxing that some patients fall asleep during treatment.

How it works

Not ordinary traction.

Traction pulls on muscle and spine together, and the body tends to guard against it. The DRX9000 is built to avoid that reflex.

Targeted

Spinal positioning and the angle of pull are set for the specific level being treated.

Gradual

Force rises on a smooth logarithmic curve, so the muscles don’t spasm and fight it.

Negative pressure

Pressure inside the disc drops, helping draw the bulge back in and fluid and nutrients back into the disc.

Restorative

Disc space increases and outer ligaments are strengthened, so the disc can heal without surgery.

Your plan

Six weeks, one round at a time.

Most patients feel less pain within the first few sessions and notice a real difference by the second week. Sessions last 30 to 45 minutes.

Your first visit includes an individualized consultation and exam to decide whether you medically qualify. Dr. Basco sits down with you, explains his recommended plan, and you begin only once your questions are answered.

Questions

DRX9000 FAQ

What causes low back pain?

Injuries and the effects of aging can both cause it. Soft discs sit between the vertebrae as shock absorbers. Many back problems start when a disc degenerates through wear and tear, or herniates and bulges out against nearby nerves, causing pain or numbness.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients feel a reduction in pain after the first few sessions, and typically notice significant improvement by the second week.

How long does treatment take?

Sessions last 30 to 45 minutes: daily for the first two weeks, three times a week for the next two, and twice a week for the final two.

How well does it work?

In a published outcome study reported by the manufacturer, 86% of patients with ruptured discs reported good to excellent relief, as did 75% of patients with facet arthrosis. Your results depend on your condition, which is why the consultation comes first.

Are there side effects?

Most patients have none. A few have had mild, short-lived muscle spasm. The table has emergency stop switches for both patient and doctor, and treatment ends the moment either is pressed.

How is it different from traction or an inversion table?

Traction and inversion can lower the pressure inside a disc somewhat, but they also trigger the body’s protective muscle spasm. The DRX9000 creates negative pressure inside the disc, which helps draw a herniation back in and lets blood and nutrients flow back to rehydrate the disc.

Can I have it after back surgery?

In most cases, yes. Many patients have found relief with the DRX9000 after a failed back surgery. Recent fusions and metal hardware are exceptions.

Are the results permanent?

Most patients don’t need additional treatment after completing the protocol. Some jobs and lifestyles put extra stress on the spine, and those cases may call for periodic re-evaluation. Many patients choose regular chiropractic visits afterward to stay on track.
